I was pretty sure I read an interview where he says it's a herion term that he made up. But since in Cultivate he's talking about 'the juice' and says Mudvayne, that's what makes it obvious for me. When i first got into them I was told it was the term for shit in the colon, and I didn't know better until a few years later ROFL. Glad that didn't turn me off from them

Lol our favourite band has to be the most confusing of them all hahaha. We have to look so deep into trying to understand their songs, i mean in most bands they just tell you everything im glad that the boys (as matt says) 'Leave it open enough so that the listener can build a relationship'

^ ^ ^very true. It takes a certain amount of intelligence to be a Mudvayne fan because everything isn't just handed to you....you have to make the effort to go deeper and put some thought into it.

When Chad Was Poor He Donated Blood Plasm, One Time They Were Having An Issue Finding His Artery And Chad Said "If You Are Looking For A Mudvein, You Have To Look Lower" And It Was A Joke At First But They Really Liked The Name.

As a former, 17 year junky, I go with the heroin reference. Sometimes less than desirable heroin can feel thick going through your veins hence “mud in your veins.” I will say I have ZERO clue if that is truly what the name means though. I would also like to note in the LD 50 dvd recorded in Peoria IL, I have always thought he was high on opiates of some sort when, if memory serves me, Matt spits the blood on his face. He looks to the camera at one point and his eyes are very soft and glossy just like people high on opiates. Again, I have zero real info about any of this but as someone who lived it this is what I tend to think.

I know many of you think the name "Mudvayne" has something to do with drugs. Actually, the band is much deeper than that. That is a very specific spelling and if you break it down, it is the letters that represent certain chemicals on the periodic table, formed together to make their name. Not exactly my type of music genre, but I have to give them a lot of credit on their lyrics and music videos. Guitarist has an interesting tuning using a 6 string with a low B or C. Drummer and bass player both have great sounds and are sown together like a well tailored suit.
