Just as I was turning off my machines and shit at work today, I managed to drive a splinter halfway under the nail on my right ring finger. Holy fucking christ did that shit hurt! I even measured how deep it went--half a centimeter. I was actually biting my other hand to block out the pain in the other. Luckily one of my co-workers had needle tweezers in her purse, and after 15 minutes of poking and prodding and pushing it in even further, I managed to dig the little bitch out. Then I flushed it out with peroxide and packed it with neosporin. It fizzed like crazy from the deep cut in my skin the splinter made as it was going under the nail. I think I got most of it. There's a little piece of white paint from the wood that's still under there, but it's not stuck in my skin. Hopefully that will work itself out. Dammit!

Ouch, that sucks! Hopefully it won't get infected, but will all the stuff you put on it, it should be ok. You'll probably have a gnarly bruise there tomorrow though.

I hate when that shit happens. One time a nail ripped my big toe nail half off, so I had to cut the rest of it off. That was a pain in the ass.

Yikes, that sounds like something my dad did a long time ago. He dropped something heavy on his big toe at work and it killed the nail. It fractured and broke off piece by piece until there was just the skin showing. It grew back eventually, but man, I remember how nasty that looked. I can only imagine how badly a nail ripping off a nail would hurt!

It's doing much better now. The last little piece of white paint worked its way out this morning, and it's only sore if I put moderate pressure on it. No swelling or redness, so I guess I kept it clean and covered well enough  . Whew! Because I would hate to have to go to the doctor's for this! I hate it when other people poke and prod me. I'm just like, "Gimme those, I'll do it my damn self". lol |

My fingers and toes are now 'cringing' and buzzing--(like when your knees get weak and tingly when looking over a high balcony...) As the Finns would say: "VITTU!!" or "PERKELE!!" Ouch, you guys. Kim, I hope your finger is alright--papercuts are my bane at work; I really cannot image your pain. Though really--what an awesome description! You have a way of describing things too well!

Oh it's all better Gretch...just a little scab under the nail where its healed! Papercuts are nasty indeed. At work we have to handle lenses with razor sharp edges, and to clean them, you have to hold them right around there. Which sucks, because every now and then, the lens will slip and slice your finger open pretty good. We go through a lot of bandaids at work!
