I say do whatever the hell you want. If you're too weak-willed to resist overindulging in alcohol or drugs, that's your problem. It's your choice whether you want that shit to control your life. When I see druggies and drunks, whining about how their "condition" is a "disease", I just have to laugh, because the only thing wrong with them is that they're fucking morons who can't get a grip.

Omg, thank you Kim . I couldn't have said this better myself . Looks like u and I feel the same about this topic. I'm one who can't feel sorry for them because they get themselves into this mess. Kinda like how really obese people complain they are too fat to do anything but keep eating and eating. It's rediculous. I'm happy to say I've been sober all my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way Drugs are fucking stupid!!!

I smoke weed, salvia (rarely), drink and eat shrooms. My philosophy is that weed/salvia/shrooms aren't drugs, they are simply plants. Sure that's arguable, because I'll bet someone will retort that heroin comes from plants. But you don't have to extract weed/salvia/shrooms, they grow naturally. I think drugs are stupid (ie- E, heroin, crack). Smoking weed is one of the only things to do in my town, and when you get to a certain point, weed becomes a lifestyle (the culture, friends, ideals, etc). I'm with whoever said that any drug used as a crutch makes you inferior. Sad that people have to use something like booze or crack or whatever rather than their own willpower to get through shit.

There's was a time when i was smoking weed everyday but my girlfriend told me to choose, she or the drugs.. I choosed her and love and i don't regret that choice. I love my life now hehe. It's great, weed and other drugs will never make you so happy. Drinkin'? Sure, I like to party and my girlfriend asweel so i'm not against but if someone drinks way too much, that's fucked up.

"the safest drug out there" ? mwhahahahaha! Lex, sorry, but your friends are fucking idiots. How would they know it's the safest? What else have they tried to compare it to? When you start smoking and drinking while still in high school, all it does is kill your will to succeed in life. They'll end up flipping burgers at McDonalds or be stuck in some shitty, minimum wage paying retail job the rest of their lives. Smoking weed before you're 21 has been proven to affect your long-term (and eventually short-term) memory and cognitive thinking skills for the rest of your adult life, because technically we don't finish developing (physically and mentally) until we're around 21-23. Heavy weed smoking also causes inferility, mostly in males. Over time a man's sperm count will drop from the millions to the hundreds, and it's hard to bounce back from the effects. There's a massive difference in a person's mentality between smoking once a week, and smoking 3 times a day. The once a week person has the ability to stop doing it, because it's not ingrained into their everyday routine, they know they can function without a smoke, and they're not killing off all those brain cells at such a rapid rate. Your friends seem fine NOW. Wait 5, 10 years down the road, they'll be asked something super simple, like a phone number, and go "Ummmmmmmmm... I don't remember".

Weed is the safest drug out there (well, besides stuff like Lions Tail, but that's just splitting hairs). Trust me, there are a lot worse. I'm all for smoking weed, but if pressure is an issue, tell them to fuck off. And no it doesn't kill the will to succeed in life. I smoke a lot of dope, yet I know where I want to go in life and how I am going to get there. I used to smoke 3+ times a day, and even though now I smoke maybe that many times a week or two, even when I did it several times a day, I knew that if I quit at that one moment, it wouldn't bother me. I can go for weeks without getting high and not give a shit. But some people just straight up don't enjoy the feeling, so even if you smoke weed, there is no guarantee you will continue to.

But Stallan, you sound as though you have a strong will, and the ability to shrug off the use of narcotics and hallucinogens in a way that most people can't. You're the exception, not the rule ;D
You're right, though, that some people just don't particularly care for the feeling of being high, and it doesn't become a problem for them. I think it has more to do not with drugs and addictive substances, but addictive personalities. People that, by some quirk in their nature, have a tendency to fixate on something. Sometimes it's a good thing, like sports or artistic endeavors and such, but those same people have the predispostion to become addicted to other things like gambling, drugs, alcohol, sex (not always a bad thing, but when you're paying a skanky 30-yr-old stripper $50 to give you a blow job after hours you know you've got some issues to work out). Things that in moderation are perfectly fine, but can easily get out of control.
I've known several people, some of whom I considered good friends at the time, who needed to get high no matter what the high was. My neighbor Tim used to be a drunk, many years ago. He was known to get so fucked up that when there was a party, his friends would park their Harleys around his bike, blocking him from making any attempt to drive off later on in the night. He got clean of alcohol, then started fixating on pills. The last I saw of him (and this was almost 5 years ago), he was eating 40mg Oxycodones several times a day. I ate 20 mg of that shit before, and I thought my heart was going to stop. I'll never do that shit again because of that. Tim and his best friends (they really were good guys) would do shrooms, coke and pills, then hang out and smoke alllllllll night. These guys are around 50 by now. They were the nicest, most considerate group of guys I've ever known, and they treated me like gold. but I could tell their lifestyle was going to be the death of them, one way or another. It's just not a good way to live.
But that's me. I'm not about to force my views on how life should be lived upon somebody who doesn't share my point of view. It's the way I feel about damn near everything in life--religion, sex life, recreation, etc.

You're right about the addictive personalities thing Kim. I've done a lot of different kinds of drugs, mostly in my high school years and never got addicted to anything. It was all recreational use. I very rarely even drink now and if I do it's a glass of wine or something. Honestly if I could, I would prefer to smoke weed (but with my job I can get drug tested at any time) on occasion...like once or twice a month or something because I like the way it feels. I'm not saying everyone should-it's a personal choice. But if you're the kind of person who can't stop, then doing drugs (remember alcohol IS a drug) is definitely NOT for you. As for the harder drugs...even though I've done them in the past, it's a much scarier world out there now drug-wise. There's just so many stronger and more addictive (even for the strongest person) Something as "harmless" as Oxycontin can kill you (my friends 20 yr old son OD'd on it )

Absolutely....It's a very fine line, taking drugs for recreational purposes and becoming addicted. It all starts out so benignly too. Those little mental justifications people start to make to do what they're doing, "Oh, just one more...I only do it after work....I don't do it when the kids are home...etc." It's why people become addicts, and why it's so hard to break out of it. They've created so many little reasons for doing it that they become unable to see the larger picture.
I can count on one hand the number of times I've smoked weed. I had a great time with it, and I'd have no issues about smoking it again. But the cost, its illegal status and the smell of it on my clothes has really put me off about using it on a semi-regular basis. If a friend has it, and offers some to me, I'll take a couple of hits. I'll offer to buy snacks or drinks too, because I don't like taking advantage of someone's generosity to share their shit.
I'm an occasional drinker as well. Every now and then I'll buy a bottle of wine or some imported beer from the Total Wine and More store just for the hell of it, and have a glass of it every night before I go to bed or with dinner. I might start drinking red wine more often. Besides its cardiovascular health benefis, it aids in getting rid of gum diseases, prevention of some tumors and cancers, keeps your nerve endings healthy to lower the risk of having Alzeheimers and dementia, lowers your cholesterol and reduces your chances of getting diabetes, had loads of antioxidants that are good for your skin, and the most interesting--it contains phytoestrogen, which bonds with the estrogen in a woman's system. When a woman is going through menopause, continuing to drink red wine will help ease the transitory period when the body stops producing estrogen on its own. So it's basically a natural remedy for those hot flashes, night sweats, and all the crap that goes on during that time.

Just don't become a drunk or an addict!
I would never do any drug other than pot or some good pain killers, lol. After I learned what was in meth i can't understand why anyone would ever use that crap.
Now I'll drink with the best of them, lol. I don't drink as much as I used too, but I still will.
