Those of you that have known me a while have probably heard me complain about how the guy who did my Mudvayne triangle tattoo fucked it up and I've never been happy with it (although I've NEVER regretted getting it in the first place!) I had some work done on it last week and it's finally starting to become something decent to look at, although it will never be like I originally intended it to be, at least it doesn't look like it was drawn on with a marker anymore!
When I first got it 8/14/04 (which I later found out was the day L & F was finished!) obviously the guy made the lines too thick & crooked. It was my choice to keep it all black & plain (vague & ambiguous, in keeping with the Mudvayne philosophy) but it was so fucked that I went back a couple weeks later, only to find that the guy who did it had been fired. Another guy added the blue and tried to straighten out the lines, but pretty much told me "don't worry about it, it's small no one will notice".WTF??? This tattoo is very special to me and on my fucking wrist!!! No one will notice?? my ass.............
anyway, this was it after all that:
Obviously I still wasn't happy with it, but just dealt with it for a while...6/14/06 I went to a tattoo shop in Orlando called "Milky Way" ...obvious BS Roll reference for the die-hard Mud fan LOL. The guy said there wasn't much he could do, but he'd add some shading. He was really nice, but still didn't the concept I had in my head....this is what I ended up with-hard to see in the pic, but he added white & gray shading around it and straightened out the lines some more:
I was ok with it for a while, but still really wanted more done to it. As luck would have it, my neighbor was going to get a tattoo last week (7/24/07) and wanted me to go with her. After talking to one of the artists (he was a Mudvayne fan too!) he seemed to understand what I was trying to do....to make it look more deliberate...stand out a bit more and hopefully once & for all get the lines done right. He suggested using a bright color like magenta to really show it off. (Because of the shading done before, he couldn't use a light color. I told him to go for it-anything would be an improvement.....and to me it was:
that pic was taken as soon as I got home, so it was still bloody & fresh. now it's healing and although I like it A LOT, I may eventually go in and have different color(s) put in around it. My daughters first remark was "PINK??? it clashes with your clothes!" and she's right, I live in black so a different color would have been a better choice. For now though, I'm happy with it....it's healing nicely and should be in perfect condition for me to show off to Chad WHEN I get to meet them at Family Values!
